Training School:”Models for Parkinson’s Disease: From Basics to Translation”

Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal

Contents:

Theoretical lectures on Parkinson’s models (Drosophila, Zebrafish, rodents), brain modeling (iPSC, organoids), entrepreneurship (OrganoTherapeutics, NeuroSov), and clinical translational approaches.

Practical sessions to acquire essential skills for Parkinson’s disease research and translation.


Participation:

Applicants must be members of the COST action IMMUPARKNET (CA2117).
If not already members, they must apply for membership before applying to this Training School.

Please note that all the accepted students will receive reimbursement from COST Action
CA21117.

Jens Schwamborn – In vitro modeling of Parkinson’s disease with patient specific organoids and assembloids.

Alessio Di Fonzo – Mutant Glucocerebrosidase in iPSC-derived Midbrain Organoid

Entrepreneurship:

Clinical translation:

Joana Batuca – Bridging Bench to Bedside: Navigating Clinical Trials in Parkinson’s Disease.

Franca Marino – How to connect the lab to the clinic. Sample preparation, storage and conservation.

Cristoforo Comi – How to connect the clinic to the lab. Clinical data and sample collection.

Hands-On Sessions

  • Stereotaxic surgery.
  • Behavioral analysis: rotarod, open field, apomorphine.
  • Behavioral/Imaging analysis – To be confirmed.
