IMMUPARKNET Experts Take Center Stage at the 7th World Parkinson Congress (WPC 2026) in Phoenix

IMMUPARKNET, the leading network dedicated to researching the role of immunity and neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s Disease, proudly announces the participation of its prominent members at the 7th World Parkinson Congress (WPC 2026), which opened on Sunday 24th May at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona, USA.

As the premier international forum for clinical and basic research, WPC (May 24-27, 2026) welcomes a large and prestigious delegation from the network this year. The team of IMMUPARKNET researchers and clinicians is at the forefront of sharing the latest developments in neuroinflammation, biomarkers, and emerging immune-based therapies.

The official Congress program clearly highlights the impact of the working group led by Action Chair Cristoforo Comi, who is directly involved as a Host for roundtables and scientific sessions. Alongside him, the congress features contributions from scientists of crucial importance to the international landscape:

  • Marina Romero-Ramos, who also holds the prestigious role of member of the Board of Directors of the World Parkinson Coalition.
  • Pablo Mir, a key figure in the plenary sessions and on the program committee.
  • Jens Schwamborn, serving as a Host in the official Poster Tours and a leading researcher in the field of cellular models.
  • Caroline Williams-Gray and Marta Camacho, featured in joint in-depth sessions on immune characterization.
  • Michela Deleidi, present among the speakers of the scientific program sessions.

Further strengthening the scientific scope of the delegation are researchers and key partners Julia Greenland, Alex Friend, Clotilde Tournerie, Bina Patel, and Wilma van de Berg. Their combined expertise — ranging from genomics to translational medicine — covers the most innovative facets of neurodegeneration.

The synergistic presence of our network at WPC 2026 represents a fundamental moment for global cooperation. Network members will illustrate how the complex interactions between the immune system and the brain can pave the way for targeted therapeutic strategies to slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease.

The event is proving to be a unique opportunity to foster the practical exchange of ideas, not only within the global academic community but by directly listening to people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners.
