Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month

Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month

On the last day of April 2025, we recap the Annual Meeting of IMMUPARKNET COST Action that took place at NOVA Medical School (NMS), in Lisbon, Portugal, from 5 to 7 April, within Parkinson’s Awareness Month.

The meeting gathered over 100 participants from Europe, the biggest of our Action until now, with five invited speakers, fifteen selected talks, twenty-four poster presentations, and one round table. Working Groups updates and the Management Committee Meeting also took place.

Participants had the chance to increase networking opportunities during the welcome cocktail and dinner at Casa do Alentejo. NMS students also promoted a guided tour to all attendees to the faculty’s historical places, and a downtown city tour was also organized for those willing to attend.

The meeting was a fruitful moment for discussion on the importance of studying the immune response for PD treatment and prevention. Guidelines were set for the future activities of each WG and how each of us should work should commit in the advocacy to stakeholders, clinicians, patients, and caregivers.

A special thanks to all our invited speakers and pannelists: Tilo Kunath, Michela Deleidi, Sandra Morais Cardoso, Vania Broccolli, Chi Wang Ip, Ariana Farrand, Marcelo Mendonça, Nuno Pires and Josefa Domingues.

This meeting was only possible due to the support of the European Commission – COST Action CA21117, NOVA Medical School, Turismo de Lisboa, and Michael J. Fox Foundation.
