We’re thrilled to share the latest publication from our Working Group 3 (WG3) at IMMUPARKNET COST Action 21117, published in npj Parkinson’s Disease! Entitled “Recommendations for clinical study protocols for immune and inflammatory profiling in Parkinson’s disease”. This important work provides detailed guidelines to design high-quality observational studies focused on immune and inflammatory mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease (PD).
The manuscript, authored by Laura Muñoz-Delgado, Caroline H. Williams-Gray, Gaetan Garraux, Diego Clemente, Özgür Öztop Çakmak, Julia C. Greenland, Inês Figueira, Isabel Machín-Díaz, Elenamaria Pirovano, Alessia di Flora, Clotilde Tournerie, Stamatia Papoutsopoulou, Sibel Ertan, Pablo Mir, and Cristoforo Comi, represents a major collaborative effort to harmonize clinical study protocols for immune profiling in PD.
📝 The work provides practical recommendations for participant selection, collection and storage of biological samples, assessment of neuroinflammation via imaging, and standardized clinical data management. By establishing these guidelines, WG3 aims to facilitate reproducible and comparable results across studies, ultimately improving our understanding of immune mechanisms in PD.
🌟 This research was supported by COST Action IMMUPARKNET (CA21117), highlighting the power of collaborative networks in advancing PD research.
